Agenda & Rules of Procedure
CRPNM Annual Report
The College has published our 2019 Annual Report to the Minister. In accordance with the provisions of the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Act, this report covers the period from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019, and it includes statistical information and a statement of the accounts of the College.
Proposed By-Law Changes
The Registered Psychiatric Nurses Act (the “Act”) requires that the Board provide a copy of the proposed by-laws to the members for their review and comment and that the Board review and consider the comments received.
To continue to prepare for the CRPNM’s transition to regulation under The Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), and to ensure that the College has the appropriate structures and resources in place for this transition, the Board is recommending changes to some of the CRPNM by-laws. The proposed by-law changes were approved for member consultation and subsequently posted on the CRPNM website for member consultation from May 1 to 14, 2020.
Comments received by the end of the day on May 14, 2020 were reviewed and considered. The Board decided that no changes were required and on May 25 approved a motion that, following member consultation, the proposed governance and finance (fees) by law changes, as they were originally published, be recommended for approval by the members at the CRPNM Annual General Meeting.
Setting the Registration Fees
The CRPNM By-laws identify that fees for Practising and Graduate registration are recommended by the Board and approved by the members at a general meeting of the College.
One of the Board’s responsibilities is to ensure that the College has sufficient resources to finance its operations. In exercising this responsibility, the Board uses a 5-year planning tool to forecast the impact of various scenarios on our revenue and expenses and makes recommendations about the registration and other fees. A jurisdictional review of registration fees also informs the Board’s decision making. It has been determined that a fee increase of 3% ($16) will be required next year.
The CRPNM Board of Directors is therefore recommending that the 2021 Practising fees be set at $557 (plus the GST). This recommendation will be presented to the members at the Annual General Meeting on June 25, 2020.
The Board of Directors is also recommending an increase in the Graduate Psychiatric Nurse registration fee for 2021. The recommendation that the 2021 Graduate Psychiatric Nurse registration fee be set at $120 (plus the GST) will also be presented to the members at the Annual General Meeting.
